Over the years, the Main South CDC has focused on providing the community with affordable housing opportunities. Some of the units have been acquired through foreclosure and gifts while other units have actually been constructed under the supervision of the Main South CDC. Through these different types of acquisitions the Main South CDC is currently offering a variety of homeownership opportunities. For low to moderate income families, the Main South CDC offers deed restricted attached single family units and townhouse style condos, which are both part of the Kilby Gardner Hammond Neighborhood Revitalization Project. As of February 2010, all of the single-family duplex units on Hollis Street and Kilby Street known as Phase III-A have been sold. Phase III-B features 10 new single-family condominiums on Kilby Street that are currently being constructed and are now available for purchase. In addition, an attached single-family house built in 2003 is available for re-sale at 171 Beacon Street. Not only do these projects provide affordable homeownership opportunities, they also use local contractors and labor.
