| University Park Neighborhood Restoration Partnership Through the University Park Neighborhood Restoration Partnership (UPNRP), Main South youths who live in the University Park target area are able to participate in social and recreational activities throughout the year. Partners In Community (PIC) Program The Partners in Community Program is a collaboration between Clark University students and the Main South CDC to provide companionship and assistance with household chores to the elderly members of the Main South Community. Traditionally, the Main South CDC has organized 3 social events annually for the members of the PIC program. These socials bring together some of the community's oldest and youngest members, which in turn fosters a greater sense of continuity through community building. Through the community involvement of Clark University students, this social program has provided our senior citizens with a range of services from help with daily tasks to lasting friendships. In an effort to expand the program, the Main South CDC plans to include the Donna Kay rest home, located in the Main South neighborhood, in the PIC program. This new partnership will embrace a new group of elderly residents excited to participate and form genuine relationships with community members. If you would like more information about joining or getting involved with the PIC program, please contact the CDC. Annual Earth Day Event The Main South CDC annually participates in the national Earth Day event which is locally sponsored by the Regional Environmental Council (REC). This past year we had over fifty individuals composed of Main South residents, Clark University students, children from the Boys & Girls Club, and workers from National Grid who volunteered their time and energy to assist in a cleanup effort of the Kilby-Gardner-Hammond area. Volunteers worked together to remove vast amounts of trash and debris, as well as foster a sense of community engagement.
All Kinds of Girls (AKOG) Program at Clark University AKOG is offered to girls, ages 9-12. Participants meet Saturday afternoons, October through March. The program is theater-based, with the aim of building the girls' self-esteem through self-expression. For more information, contact the CDC. Summer Camp Program The Main South CDC and Clark University offer a free summer camp program to all student ages 9-12 who are interested in participating in various field trips and other recreational summer activities.
